The Friends of Holy Trinity Church Bembridge are delighted that the BSC Management Committee has agreed to appoint the Friends as the BSC charity for 2024. We look forward to working together to help and support our charity.
The Friends is an independent ecumenical local charity established in 1999 to raise funds for the maintenance repair, restoration and beautification of Holy Trinity Church and it’s associated buildings, St Luke’s Chapel, and the Cloisters and its lovely garden for the benefit of the community.
Since it was formed, the Friends has raised some £500,000 towards many beneficial works for the Church. These old buildings need continuous attention and we are so pleased that we have been able to help keep them in good condition.
We have around 150 subscribing members and families at the moment who form the backbone to our funding. We have an excellent committee that meets regularly and plans and organises our many interesting and varied fundraising activities and appeals. Our work matters so much, as with well maintained and functioning buildings, the church is able to offer itself to the community for a huge number of popular and useful village events and for the benefit of future generations.
We have a number of new and important projects lining up right now, including major masonry repair and damp proofing work to the tower and the west wall, as well as repairs to some internal stonework and a central heating system upgrade. Longer term, other works and improvements are at the planning stage.
We are always seeking new members, ideas, donations, grants and legacies to enable us to achieve our objectives.
If you feel you can help, please get in touch with the undersigned via the BSC.
